ASSESSMENT TASK

Over the course of this unit, you have examined William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, both in print and media form. You have also done research into how life has changed from that era to yours and you will now be required to put yourself into the shoes of a chosen character.

Assessment Task

You will be free to decide on a pivotal character from Romeo and Juliet, with approval from your learning manager. After the work you have completed over the unit, you are to perform a 3 minute oral presentation to other members of the class where you take the stand point of your chosen character. Your oral presentation will consist of the prose of an internal monologue where the character will face a situation and it must be resolved.
You are free to add elements you deem necessary to the presentation, however, the overall presentation MUST remain true to the story. Your language MUST consist of Elizabethan terminology and societal structures and traits of the era.

You have many resources at your disposal and it is important that you utilise these to present something that is credible and of a high standard.

Things to remember:
  1. Set the context for the speech (Where are you? What happened? How are you feeling?)
  2. Use appropriate language and mannerisms of the chosen character (and timeframe)
  3. Have fun! Though you are to present something of high quality, if you enjoy what you write and present, you will do a great job!

You will be able to submit a draft 2 weeks before the due date, which will be handed back to you no later than 1 week before the due date.
